Funny Faces 10 Months Old

I know why this girl always has crazy hair.
I don't know where the crazy eyes came from.
It makes me laugh that daddy was concerned this outfit wasn't matching. He really thought it went well together.
Sometimes she has to have a bath just to slick the hair down.
I've recently started trying to cut back on the binky. So this little one improvises. Mostly with her thumb. Yikes! But here's the toe.
Packing is a little more difficult with a girl who wants to see you at all times and know what you're doing. If she sees something interesting, she has to examine it carefully. Here she is with my PEZ collection.
 And a monkey.
 "I'm not getting my way!"
She loves cheese! Oh, the hair.
This is that curious face I was telling you about.
 Exploring!
 Caught!

Space! And Science!

This weekend we drove up to Huntsville to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.
We've been meaning to go for ages, and I wasn't going to let anything prevent us from going... apparently not even a sinus infection. It sounds like there are rockets in my ears, seriously.

Mark's favorite thing was the space shuttle. The tank and boosters have been in space! The shuttle is one they used to practice. I found out Mark likes authenticity as much as I do. When I found out that hardly anyone displays the real dinosaur bones I was livid...
Mark was sad about a lot of the rockets.

We are astronauts! Someone can photoshop Mark's face in the 3rd suit. I was laughing so much.
 Gigantic!
What's a space center without Darth Vader? Not a space center.
 Obligatory car picture.
Evelyn loved this gravity demonstration. Her little eyes followed the ball so well. She was mad when we wanted to leave. She's getting pretty bossy.

I have never seen this smile of Evelyn's before. I especially love the rocket coming out of her head. I think the photography term is "merging." But I could be wrong.
 Some serious weapons.

Mark guarantees this granite marker for the Challenger comes from Utah--the same stone the SLC Temple is made from. He wasn't carrying a magnet to prove it. "What kind of geologist are you?" He said, "I'm not a geologist."
 Giant missile.
See this grumpy fit? Evelyn decided she needed to walk around holding onto two fingers of a parent. Any deviation from this plan and there was a tantrum. The girl is spoiled. Yikes.
But she was so cute walking around. So I guess it was okay.

March

I love to help with laundry!
She surprised me by climbing into the laundry basket. How did she do it without tipping it over?
If Evelyn could live in the bathtub, she would. She loves holding onto that thing on top of the faucet that switches the shower on and standing. I imagine it gets pretty cold, but she doesn't care. She'll reach down and splash her fingertips in the water, but we can't convince her that bathing is much more fun sitting down. Anytime she even sees the bathroom door, she wants to take a bath and cries when you won't let her. Luckily, the girl is always wanting to feed herself and get food in her hair so she gets lots of baths. Maybe she's smarter than we think. I didn't expect 10 month olds to be so independent.
We went to a little girl's birthday party. There was a fun bubble machine. The bubbles were fascinating. Anytime we went somewhere else, Evelyn was stearing us back over to the bubbles. The party hat was too adorable.
Here she is wearing a dress I wore as a baby. We love the 'vintage' dresses!
Walking while holding on with one hand has quickly turned into taking multiple steps on her own! She can now stand up without holding onto anything, too. Today she walked the entire length of our couch without falling. She is so proud of herself and we are proud of her! Ten months old. She's had her two bottom teeth for a while, and we can see four on top that are about to poke through, but not quite. We figure that's the cause of the major grumpiness that's been going on for a few days.

She loves to say "Mom" and "Dad" with recent additions "ga" and "ba." We're pretty sure ba refers to ball, as she says it while we roll the ball with her back and forth. While Mark is at work Evelyn likes to walk with me from room to room saying "Dad! Dad!" She really accents the second 'd.' She's always talking about her daddy. What about mom? She says that when she's mad or hungry. Lucky me. I guess it makes sense. I'm the food and comfort when she's hurt or sad.

Memes

Oh memes. I love them. I have LOLPics on my phone and I often look at them while I'm feeding Tiny girl. That, and I play Candy Crush Saga. But that's beside my point. When I find good ones, I usually save them to my phone. So while I was looking through pictures to blog, I ran across these gems. I have no idea who deserves the photo credit on these. I wish I had made them.

I did make this one though. It was in the middle of the night.

February

Here's what happened in February. Evelyn wearing her swing mobile on her head.
Finger painging with food is a favorite activity.
 Look! No hands!
A sad bruise. There are too many injuries when a baby is learning to climb and stand by herself. Luckily the new bruises every day thing slowed down. When she's falling asleep, she loves to play with hair. She rubs her eyes with it, knots it in her fingers, and smells it. Its painfully heartwarming.
Here is one of my favorite shirts whose collar never sat right after washing it repurposed as a headband and skirt. So precious on her little baby body. One thing I didn't consider is how a knit pencil skirt wouldn't stay put on a busy little lady. But I got my pictures and a little more sewing experience, so I'm happy.

Mark and I love to play Super Mario Brothers on the Wii. Evelyn has to have her own remote, too. So spoiled. The moment she hears the video game noises she finds her remote and looks at the screen. Oh dear.
Here's a sweet picture of Evelyn laying on me and looking at the screen picture of herself.
We went to the store to get a ball and looked at all the fun toys. How we managed to come home with just a baby doll and the ball, I don't know. Little girl toys are so fun! I want to buy everything! She loves to chew on her plastic hands, and put the baby doll binky in the baby doll's mouth.
I think this is my new favorite outfit. We had to go to church by ourselves because daddy got called into work. Usually I just hate those Sundays by myself, but this one turned out pretty excellent. Evelyn was happy smiley!
She showed off her new one-handed walking skills!
We had the most amazing cheesecake ever. Evelyn stole daddy's piece. He snuck her a little taste, and she insisted on having the whole thing.
Another favorite is hiding under a blanket! She has us pull the blanket up over us and is all smiles. Once it comes off, she's lifting it up again because it is too fun!
Oh the Halloween jammas. If it fits...

Ever since the crawling stage, Evelyn hasn't gained any weight. She is too busy.
