July

In July, Evelyn and I went on an adventure.
The first stop was Las Vegas.
This little girl loves kitties. Frodo is really good at receiving loves, which is quite nice.
The very next morning, we flew to Salt Lake to visit Grandma Loie at Grandma Oldroyd's house.
She has quite the collection of little antique rocking chairs. This very special chair was Evelyn's favorite.

Evelyn liked bossing around Ken (Mark's cousin).

 Grandma Oldroyd
We went to Wheeler Farm and Evelyn slept through the parts she would have loved best.
Traveling is tiring.
Luckily, she woke up to feed the ducks. She did not mind those ducks and geese getting in her face. She loved carrying her bag of feed.

 Aunt Lisa
Then we drove down to Cedar City to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Cash
The best park ever! Park Discovery
Evelyn had lots of fun playing in the kiddie pool.
 She loves to swing!
Next, we went down to Las Vegas again, for the Shelley Reunion. (I did not get many pictures...oops)
Here's Evelyn standing in the dog dish.
Playing computer games with Uncle Johnathan.
 Trampoline fun

There was a pretty sweet game room at the swanky resort.
Getting ready to swim. She wasn't unhappy. That's just her "cool" face.
We played a fun candy game. I love this picture for Elsie's face.
Next, we flew to Florida! Here's a picture of Evelyn passed out with her foot on a sleeping Uncle Johnathan. Grandpa is next to him, also sleeping. Can I just say, we had five airplane rides this trip and my girl did amazing on every single one. Sleeping or smiles the whole way. Even though she recently learned how to throw super huge drop down on the floor tantrums? Yay us! She saved the tantrums for convenient times, actually.
Jacuzzi tub for the weary travelers.
 Next up, Sea World!
I guess I'll let Aunt Casey hold me.
 And Becca
Matchy cousins. It was impossible for two little wiggles to hold still for a picture. So funny.
There's my favorite Elsie face!

 A frog on the wall!

 Johnathan loves the bunny ears

 We are cotton candy girls!
I could eat cotton candy every day. I think Evelyn could, too.

It is the duck trip! I have so many pictures of ducks. but not many of Logan, so here you go. And there's Levi!

 Sometimes we were grumpy.

Carousel! Evelyn's very favorite thing. She cried when I tried to undo the seat belt. Luckily there were no lines to get on so we could just stay on the ride. (Even in the kiddie section of the park, there weren't many rides Evelyn could go on anyway)

This picture cracks me up, because I ruined it with my hat.

 Tortoises
 Those silly uncles
 Cousins
 I packed way too much.
Yay! Back home again to daddy!
On our way home from the airport, we traditionally end up stopping to eat. Evelyn enjoyed the steak.
Evelyn's favorite spot when we are in the kitchen.
I got this little doll chair a while ago to repaint, but haven't got around to it yet. Since Evelyn loved those little chairs at grandma's house so much, I gave it to her anyway. Good thing I didn't waste my time repainting it, because it is now covered with colored pencil art. When did that girl learn how to draw? Last time I checked, she couldn't stop sticking the crayons in her mouth long enough to draw.

Also, my craft room is coming along. I have way too many ideas on how I would like it to be. And I still need lots of storage. And a big table or something. It will be nice to have easy access to all my fun things and a place to work on them. Mark hates it when I take over the kitchen table for days and days. I do, too.

Zoo

Mark had lots of days off this week. Four. It was weird. We went to the Birmingham Zoo.
I was really impressed. We thought it was great! Lots of the animals were right next to the fence or glass. The animals seemed pretty happy and alert. Most of the cats weren't, but those things are usually nocturnal. It was pretty adorable to see the wild cats curled up like house cats.

This lion kept pawing the grass and roaring. Pretty awesome.
 Sleeping
Evelyn had a great time. She loved watching all the people. It took her a while for her to understand that we were looking at animals. The funniest moment was when we were checking out the weasel and one hopped right next to the glass in front of her. She got so excited and tried to reach for it, bonking her head on the glass. She was a little leery of the glass after that. She's been making the funniest noise "oooOooo!" While she points to what she wants. In this case, she really wanted to pet that weasel.

Big girls sit on the bench

Most of the animals came up to the glass to check us out.
The un-photographed bobcat was pacing back and forth facing the people. A little girl was laughing and trying to match his pace. It was hilarious.

This sea lion would swim a lap, and on the second lap he would come up and kiss the glass where we were and swim another lap and do it again. When we moved away and more people filled into our spot, he stopped doing it. When we moved back, he started up again. I don't know if it was my hot pink shirt or what, but it was awesome. He was super fast, so I didn't get any great pictures.
In the Lorikeet aviary. Evelyn was okay with it for a minute. Then the food ran out and the birds started flying around and cawing and Evelyn wanted out of there.

 We'll be certain to return.

A New Project

We think it will be pretty fun. And a whole lot of work.

Maybe one day I'll be posting a picture of a beautifully restored piano sitting in the perfect spot in the ...music room?
